One of our favorite bands from Glue.

Indie warblers Beirut are back with a new single, their latest release since the EP March of the Zapotec/Holland back in February of 2009. Lead singer and instrumentalist Zach Condon originally wrote this song to be played on the ukelele when he was only 17, but it has since been rearranged into a rather jovial piano-driven track. The release is available for purchase now on vinyl along with another new track entitled “Goshen” and some canine-influenced album artwork. The new material from Beirut will be made available for download on June 14, 2011.

After filling the room with light rays, Matt Mondanile stood up from his loop station, grabbed his guitar and took us to the screened in porch. While Ducktails is known for its loopy take on tropical psych, “House of Mirrors,” which is probably the most introspective song in the Ducktails canon, is a particularly solemn existential ballad. It’s a standout, not just because its based around a quiet, very-straightforward chord progression, but due to its ability to seep into your psyche and help in the examining of life, love, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. “In a house filled with mirrors, it’s not easy to see where your going” may feel like an obvious use of the mirror metaphor, and it sure seems that way in retrospect, but without self examination, one would never truly know thyself. It takes a hint, or a house filled with mirrors, in order to delve beneath the surface of everyday existence. It’s not easy, and it can be extremely painful, but, like the end of this tune, which finds Matt moving forward and ripping like an everyday Steve Hillage, when one does finally confront the subtle demons, deeply rooted hangups and other mental obstacles, the rest of life is, as Q-Tip said, “strictly butter, strictly butter, baby.”

A volte vi succede che dopo aver provato un’intensa emozione positiva dovuta da input esterni (come una qualsiasi forma d’arte), veniate investiti da un forte senso di disagio e sconforto, dovuto alla passività della propria azione, come ad esempio il limitarsi ad ascoltare nel caso di un brano musicale?
Vi è mai capitato che la cosa vi sia piaciuta così tanto e vi abbia travolto a tal punto, che volete e dovete farne parte e dare il vostro contributo?
Così nascono band, nascono piccole etichette indipendenti per appassionati, negozi di dischi, nascono movimenti alternativi e alternative forme di espressione, nascono negozi di abbigliamento legati a tali movimenti, nascono contenitori culturali dove bene o male ci si ritrova e dove a volte tanta sensibilità va a creare un qualcosa di hype e cool.
Glue Music nasce proprio da questa viscerale passione.
Per supportare e appoggiare piccole realtà musicali, partendo inizialmente proprio dal territorio in cui Glue è situato; quella terra di provincia che è la Romagna senza un’importante vetrina che è il capoluogo, dove tutto (giustamente o non) sembra emergere con più facilità ed entusiasmo.
Glue Music nasce esclusivamente dal cuore.
Oltre a piccoli eventi live situati dentro il negozio Glue Clothings ( His Clancyness, Last Europa Kiss, Young Wrists, Death in Plains, Wolther Goes Stranger, Arturo Compagnoni Rumore Mag, Trinity Bronson Produzioni, Ale Franchini Frequenze Indipendenti, ecc… ) è in uscita il primo EP coprodotto dei Sybiann, band forlivese formatasi tra le mura del centro culturale cesenate Officina49.                                                          
La band propone un ridondante e percussivo avant-punk.
Vorticosa, oscura e martellante psichedelia, che risveglia sentimenti che oscillano tra il male di vivere e la gioia quasi zen del ricongiungimento primordiale alla natura.
